Windows XP's Security Center

The Windows XP Security Center (pictured right) was designed to give users a one stop shop for managing the Windows Firewall, their Antivirus software and the Automatic Updates process. The Security Centre will also alert users should there be a problem with any of the areas of their protection.

The Security Center and Malware/Spyware

Total Security's "Protection Center" appears very similar to its Windows XP genuine counterpart

Certain malware/spyware applications such as Total Security will attempt to convince the user they are genuine by showing a fake version of the security centrer.

The Security Center on a Windows Domain

When an XP workstation (running XP Professional) is joined to a Windows domain the Security Center may change to advise that some settings are managed by an administrator.
