Problem with the edx register
Symptoms
When attempting to live migrate a virtual machine, an error message like the one shown on the right appears. You are able to migrate VMs to the host if the VM is powered off/shut down but not provide a live migration.
Solution (applies to HP ProLiant blades, Intel processors)
It is likely the Intel virtualisation technology and No-execute memory protection CPU extensions are not enabled. The solution is to enable these in the BIOS.
Highlight the No-execute Memory Protection option and check its current status (appears in a small box beneath the menu). If the status is disabled, press enter, highlight enabled and press enter again to save the setting. Repeat for Intel (R) Virtualization Technology. Press Escape until you are asked if you wish to leave. Leave the BIOS and the host will restart. |
