Troubleshooting Meru Access Points

It is possible that a Meru access point may fail or become disconnected from the the network for some reason. The quickest way to check this is to check by looking in the controller web interface.

Access Point shows as disabled

When the access point has no network the 2nd LED from the bottom cycles green - red - blue
The manual seems fairly useless in this regard (or at least the 2 manuals Jonathan had) but when looking at an access point itself the lights will be incorrect, cycling through green - blue - red.

When this happens the access point is alerting the user that there is no network connectivity between the access point and the controller.

Fix

  • Ensure the data line on the Power over Ethernet adapter is plugged in correctly.
  • Ensure there is network connectivity from the switch to which the access point is connected.
  • Test connectivity from the switch to which the Wireless Access Point is connected - if your test terminal (laptop?) is unable to ping network hosts then you will need to restart the switch.
  • Restart the access point.
  • Check the controller to see if the access point has been re-enabled.
