Re-initialise the Client Side Cache

Sometimes the Windows Client Side Cache (CSC, the area where files are stored for the synchronisation (off line files) process) will become corrupted and cause syncronisation to fail (see the list of issues and fixes). In the event of the CSC becoming corrupt it can be re-initialised to resolve the problem.

Warning - re-initialising the CSC
When you re-initialise the Client Side Cache you will lose any changes that you've made to files that have synchronised correctly. If you're receiving a parameter incorrect error you'll likely find that synchronisation has not succeeded and while re-initialisation is the fix you need to copy the data out first (see parameter incorrect on the main list of errors).

How to re-initialise the cache

  1. Open My Computer.
  2. From the Tools menu select Folder options.
  3. Select the Offline files tab.
  4. While holding ctrl and shift click the Delete filesbutton.
  5. You will receive a warning (see below) - if you're sure you've backed up data that hasn't synchronised say Yes.
  6. Reboot and synchronise.
  7. The problem should be resolved.
