Interactive White Boards

An interactive whiteboard(IWB) is similar to a standard white board but is able to control the computer attached to it. Additional software allows the user to "write" on the board with one of the provided pens and capture this output for later use. There are 2 types of IWB this Wiki's maintainer has worked with - the Smart Board and the Clever Board.

Smart Boards

Smart boards are touch sensitive so you can use your finger or the provided "pens" (just a plastic cylinder with a fabric tip). Smart boards are light by comparison with Clever boards (Smart boards only need one person to carry them).

Clever Boards

Unlike the Smart board, the clever board is not touch sensitive and requires a special, battery powered pen to function. Early generation Clever Boards have a 9pin RS232 connection that uses a Virtual Ink Mimio adapter to convert to USB and do the magic. Later versions have a USB connection straight in.
